Project
Ellesmere Road is a substantial three storey victorian family home, full of character. It suffered from a claustrophobic kitchen that was disconnected from the rest of the house, presenting issues with looking after 2 small children. The rest of the accommodation was beautifully presented but the lean-to glazed structure made the disconnected kitchen dark and created a barrier to the garden.
In this project we designed a side extension that linked the living room to the kitchen/diner via internal wide steps – perfect for reading or playing. Large roof lights flooded the space with natural light. A Large double bi-fold glazed door allowed easy, uninterrupted access into the garden. We used a blue/black brick that sat beautifully next to the Victorian red brick. It gave the extension its own identity whilst allowing it to sit harmoniously next to the Victorian villa.
Testimonial
“Really exciting designs from this lady who seems to really know how to merge old buildings with contemporary extensions. She has been so accommodating throughout the process and very professional. Would highly recommend.”
