Tom Thorne, Cooper Green Pooks

Tom has always had a love for building restoration, spending his free time when he was younger, working for local builders. Completing his own barn conversion project stood him in good stead to start his professional career in property renovation. He now works for respected local property experts Cooper Green Pooks as their Renovations Manager.

Tom is passionate about breathing new life into old buildings, improving not only their functionality and aesthetics but also remaining authentic to the age of the property. Whenever possible he particularly loves to reinstate original features, back into period properties, whether that is fitting reclaimed fireplaces, period style plaster coving or something as simple as a ceiling rose. Tom has worked for Cooper Green Pooks for six years, on a variety of projects ranging from small internal refits to complete re-purposing of disused buildings, as well as continuing to oversee his own personal projects.

Tom lives with his wife, 3 step-children, a cat and a dog in a newly restored Victorian villa in the centre of historic Shrewsbury. When not working he is normally found walking or mountain biking in the hills of South Shropshire or over the border in Wales.

Lydia Bishop, Home Renovator

Lydia co-ordinated directly with ARCHITECTURE:Ventures to deliver this transformative renovation project. She also expertly co-ordinated trades to complete the stunning interiors of this substantial family home.

Oakleigh house is a stunning family home in a conservation area. ARCHITECTURE:Ventures was brought in originally to extend the property and to create a new en-suite master bedroom over the existing dining area. The brief evolved after discussions with the Client, allowing us to remodel the ground floor of the house to let the spaces flow more naturally. The design resulted in the glass lean-to dining area being removed and replaced with a two storey structure. The kitchen was relocated in this space on the ground floor whilst the first floor was a library link corridor that joined the coach house bedroom to the main house. The brief was answered without the need to build a new bedroom and whilst providing a new stunning kitchen with garden views.
