Project: Artist Extension

  • Location: Shrewsbury
  • Cost: £35k
  • Added value: Unknown
  • Build time: Not on site yet

This lovely project took direct inspiration from the Riva house project. My client is a talented artist and was inspired by the dedicated artist’s bench in the kitchen space of Riva house. However she didn’t think it was possible to have the luxury of a dedicated art space within the footprint of her own much needed, conservatively sized, ground floor extension.

We solved this by designing a garden facing kitchen extension that has given so much more space than the square meters that have actually been added. The huge amount of natural light and carefully designed kitchen layout has increased the feel of her living space exponentially to the floor area that we have actually added.

We also redesigned the garden and utility yard space provisions to allow the garden to be used for leisure undisturbed by the necessary utilities of bin storage and cat husbandry.

We are at the quotes stage in this project and look forward to starting on site very soon.

She understood what I wanted and had imaginative solutions to all the problems I was trying to solve. The design she developed, in close consultation, was everything I asked for and more. Obtaining planning permission was a breeze, even when I changed my mind over a detail later……..

I can thoroughly recommend Architecture Ventures, whether your project is large or small – you won’t be disappointed.
